Desa Temesi: Harmony of Nature and Culture in Environmental Conservation Efforts

Gianyar, Bali – March 14, 2025 – Desa Temesi, a village rich in cultural and natural heritage in Gianyar Regency, has once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability. Through the Tree Planting and Eco-Enzyme Pouring activities in the Sangsang River, Temesi reaffirms itself as a village that not only preserves local wisdom but also actively supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Located at Taman Baginda, Banjar Peteluan, Desa Temesi, this initiative aims to conserve nature, maintain ecological balance, and raise awareness about the importance of transforming household organic waste into eco-enzymes. Eco-enzymes play a significant role in improving water quality, reducing environmental pollution, and supporting ecosystem sustainability.

The event was attended by various stakeholders, including representatives from the Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Gianyar, the Head of Temesi Village, Perbekel Temesi, Babinsa Temesi, and the General Manager of Arkamara Dijiwa Ubud.

Desa Temesi is not only renowned for its stunning natural beauty but also for its vast potential in cultural and environmental tourism. The presence of the Sangsang River serves as a vital natural asset, supporting local subak communities who rely on it as the primary water source for irrigating their rice fields and plantations.

Alongside its rich river ecosystem, Desa Temesi is deeply rooted in its agrarian traditions, where sustainable farming practices have been preserved for generations. This makes the village an appealing destination for visitors seeking an authentic Balinese cultural experience.

The community of Temesi has long recognized the importance of environmental conservation, inspiring various green initiatives, including today’s tree planting and eco-enzyme pouring program. With the synergy between local communities, the government, and private sectors, it is hoped that these conservation efforts will set an example for other regions to follow.

Government's Role in Environmental Conservation Campaigns

The Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Gianyar emphasizes the critical role of both society and businesses in preserving the environment. This conservation campaign aims to encourage more stakeholders to take concrete actions in maintaining ecological balance, such as tree planting and utilizing eco-enzymes to enhance water quality.

With collaboration between the government, the community, and businesses, these conservation programs can be implemented sustainably and create tangible environmental impacts. The government hopes that this campaign will inspire other private sector entities to participate in similar sustainability initiatives.

As part of its sustainability efforts, Arkamara Dijiwa Ubud has launched the 1% for Smile and Tree program, which focuses not only on environmental conservation but also on humanitarian aid. Arkamara Dijiwa Ubud actively collaborates with four foundations in Gianyar and the Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Gianyar to conduct various environmental initiatives, including tree planting and ecosystem restoration projects. Through these efforts, the company aims to encourage more stakeholders to contribute to environmental conservation and share positive impacts with the broader community.

As a village that values local wisdom and environmental sustainability, Desa Temesi hopes that initiatives like this will not merely be ceremonial events but will evolve into ongoing movements embraced by the wider community. Desa Temesi calls on more communities, businesses, and younger generations to participate in preserving ecological balance so that a green and sustainable environment can be passed down to future generations.

With collective awareness and shared responsibility, Desa Temesi believes that environmental conservation efforts will yield long-term benefits for the social, economic, and cultural well-being of the community.
